1:30 pm – 3:00 pm: Publisher Panel

Venue: Great Southern Room, Fourth Floor, State Library of WA
Panel: Linsay Knight (Walker Books), Lisa Riley (Penguin Random House) and Cate Sutherland (Fremantle Press)

Join us for this opportunity to get an inside view on how publishers work. Our guests will talk about how they work, what they're buying (and what they're not). In a time when everyone seems to be writing a book, learn how to increase your chances of standing out in an ever-growing slush-pile.

There will be time for Q&A.

This event will be open to SCBWI members in the first instance, then non-members.

For more information visit the Publisher Panel page.

***** This event is now fully booked. Please email ARA Cristy Burne if you would like to be added to a waitlist in case of cancellations. *****

3:30pm – 5:00pm:  First Page First Look

Venue: Great Southern Room, Fourth Floor, State Library of WA
Panel: Linsay Knight (Walker Books), Lisa Riley (Penguin Random House) and Cate Sutherland (Fremantle Press)

First impressions matter! When an editor or agent opens your submission, are you enticing them to turn the page or set it aside and move on? Here's your chance to gain valuable insight into how your work comes across on that all-important first look.

During this session, our panel of industry professionals offer 'first impression' critiques of first pages and illustrations, articulating and explaining the responses they would have if considering your submission from the slush-pile.

Where possible, time will be allowed for audience Q&A.
